The wonderful Flowers for Turing fundraising initiative returned again on Friday 23 June thanks to our fantastic Ambassador and friend Joe Reddington. Joe and his friends have organised flowers to be laid at the Manchester statue of the pioneering scientist and WWII codebreaker Alan Turing in memory of his birthday every year since 2013 in support of SpecialEffect.
This year at least £5,000 was raised, to add to the £27,000 that this unique and lovely gesture has raised since the initiative began.
People from all over the world make donations that cover a bunch of flowers and a gift towards our work helping people with physical disabilities to experience a better quality of life through technology.
This year special thanks also go to our Ambassador Stephen Hey and his family for organising and arranging the flowers (over 56 donations!) on a wet Friday in Manchester.
Huge, huge thanks to Joe, Stephen and everyone involved – this really is such an amazing tribute!
