Back in 2017 the combination of an adapted joystick and two large button switches first enabled a delighted Finlay to enjoy playing FIFA, and since then our specialist assessment team have continued to support his gaming journey as his abilities have changed.

Thanks to their ongoing help he currently takes to the pitch armed with a controller setup that gives him access to both joysticks and five switches – the most effective way for him to compete in the all-important crunch matches against his brother!

“SpecialEffect have enabled me to play with friends online from school and keep in contact with friends from further afield,” he said, “and also given me some independence.”

“[Playing] is something that I really enjoy and it’s created some great memories with my brother!”

We’ve loved helping Finlay and so many others kick off to inclusion and independence in one of the world’s most popular sports video games, and we’ll be there for all of them if and when they need us.

Below: Finlay describes the impact of our support.
