Phew, what a scorcher! You’ve melted our hearts with your amazing support during July, and here are just a few highlights from events taking place all over the world:


Painting of a space stationLavecon is a fantastic Elite Dangerous convention that’s kindly supported SpecialEffect for many years, and 2022 was no different. From an amazing art auction run by CMDR BeetleJude, the Lavecon raffle, and some our valued Ambassadors flying the SpecialEffect flag, we’re thankful to the Elite Dangerous community for their enduring support.


Smiling woman and man in front of banner standKirtlington Golf Club Captains Day – Earlier this year Seniors Captain and SpecialEffect Ambassador Steve Dolton (pictured here with Maddy) kindly chose us as his 2022 charity. Maddy and Mark had a wonderful time as guests at the club’s Captains Day, which raised a fantastic £700!


Football team with charity bannerSplash Damage vs Games Industry Football Classic – Hosted by Bromley FC at Hayes Lane Stadium, Splash Damage took on a host of games industry friends in a full throttle 11v11 footballing epic! Splash Damage took the win, and raised an amazing £1500


Two football teams with charity bannerMan midway through overhead kickSixfields Soccer Smasher – Players from across the games industry including Rare Ltd, Playground Games, First Touch Games, SEGA and Devolver Digital came together for a surprisingly well-mannered match at Northampton Town FC, courtesy of SpecialEffect VP and Northampton Chairman Kelvin Thomas. The event was sponsored by Devolver Digital, who’ve kindly offered to match the fantastic £1500 that was raised. Our colleague Nick even got to show some of his silky overhead kicking skills!


Pirate-themed photo frame and sea chest with skullSOTFest – With the rallying cry of #BeMorePirate, the Sea of Thieves community came together this month to celebrate life on the high seas! Through a full day of fun, events and competitions, and an incredible fundraiser and raffle, SOTFest has raised over £6000 so far. The team has also just announced SOTFest 2023, so keep an eye out for this event next year!
