Craig’s enjoyed playing games on his PlayStation for over 30 years, but after a multiple sclerosis diagnosis he began to find using the standard controls difficult.
Our specialist assessment team visited Craig to see if we could enable him to make the most of his gaming abilities and his existing accessible gaming setup. They identified a suitable one-handed joystick that he could use for better control with his right hand, and a selection of carefully-placed button switches for him to hit that were easier to use when his hands became tired or his fist clenched up.
“The options were endless,” he said, “It’s given me the opportunity to see what else I can play, which is exciting.”
“Gaming’s a release, and it’s something we’ve done together as a family as well.”
Finding the right combination of assistive and positioning technology to unlock maximum gaming freedom can be a costly, frustrating and time-consuming process for gamers and their families. It’s a privilege to help make that journey easier for gamers like Craig by offering advice, experience, equipment loans and the promise of lifelong help and support.
None of this would be possible without your fundraising through events like One Special Day, so we extend a heartfelt thank you for all you do for us, it’s hugely appreciated.
