Step forward local heroes Cokethorpe Junior School, a wonderful school local to us who, despite the coronavirus upheavals, organised the most wonderful Charity Week. It was packed with socially-distanced fun and activities including Hook A Bag stalls, water fights, shakes & smoothies stalls and loads more. Over £1000 was raised!

The School had to be extra inventive this year. The children were all back on the Monday of their Charity Week but creativity was still required! Many classes were not in their usual rooms and were spread across the whole site, unable to mix. How could they raise money with no cake sale, no customers from other classes, and no coins to change hands? Cash was not allowed. But as ever, the Junior School children and staff were resourceful.

Each class ‘bubble’ worked on fun activities, such as Soak a Teacher, Jelly Fish races, Park a Tractor, Ice lollies, and many more. Dressing-up day was a highlight, with different themes followed by the different groups, such as Rock Stars, Totally Tropical, Farmyard, Insects, Mad Hatter’s Tea party, Japanese, and Island Life.

Several of the children still ran their own stalls at home for family and friends. Stalls such as Milk Shakes and Smoothies and Commission a Drawing, proved very successful.

We’re so grateful for the continuing support of the staff, children and parents at Cokethorpe School. Over the years their fundraising has been incredible, and all of us here at SpecialEffect want to say a huge, huge thank you to everyone involved in their Charity Week this year. A truly exceptional fundraising effort completed in truly exceptional circumstances!
