"Fantastic experience! We're still buzzing."

Paul Wood and Jen Hilborne took on the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 mile bike ride for us recently - and completed it in just over six hours! We'll let Jen tell the story:

"What a fantastic experience it was! We're still buzzing.

What made this a special achievement for me was that taking part remained uncertain right up until the last minute because I'd injured my knee.

I was told to take it easy, but we were so caught up in the excitement of cycling along London roads and highways with thousands of other cyclists, and with no traffic or red lights to concern us the 'take-it-easy' plan was soon forgotten. We were flying, and the knee held up well.

"It's not a race," we kept reminding ourselves.

With so many cyclists on the road, we all had to take care of each other to stay safe, which we did. We were shouting signals and pointing out hazards, but we were also laughing and enjoying every single minute of the ride.

Support from the crowds who gathered to watch all along the route in London was incredible. The cheering, clapping, and high-fives gave us such a boost, and it grew in volume the closer we got to the finish. Cycling down The Mall towards Buckingham Palace left us grinning and wanting to do it all again next year.

Our target was to raise £1,200. To date, we've raised a little over £1,300, and we're delighted. The support means a lot to us and even more to those it will help.

We're extremely touched by and thankful to all those who supported us with their donations, to those who travelled to meet us at the finish line, and to those who cheered us on from home. Thank you all."

Thanks Paul and Jen, what a ride!
