To beard or not to beard

For the last few months the games industry has been tickled (in some cases literally) by the ever-expanding beard of SpecialEffect Vice President Andy Payne.

And now he's very generously decided to put the beard to work and raise funds for us by holding a very special poll starting today (to coincide with the triggering of Article 50) involving two fundraising pages (Beardxit and Re-Mane).

The one with the most funds raised by 12 April will decide the fate of the beard! If Beardxit has the most funds then Andy will shave his beard off on Facebook Live but if the Re-maners win then the beard will continue to be the most magnificent in the UK games industry!

Thank you to Andy for his long term support of SpecialEffect and for coming up with this idea! Andy is one of SpecialEffect’s longest and most loyal supporters who, along with his wife Kirsty, was at the launch of the charity way back in 2007!

Here are both fundraising pages and Andy’s kind words that feature on our website.

“I have been privileged and lucky enough to have been on the journey with SpecialEffect right from the very start in 2007. The work the charity do is not only ground breaking, but it is essential. To see the hugely positive effect on disabled people playing games is not only heartening, it is overwhelming. To see them play on a level playing field, many for the first time ever, is truly transformational. ”
