Support Pete's slow-roast 24-hour marathon

You've got to take your sun hat off to Peter Slater.

While we're slapping Reggae Reggae on our chargrilled burgers this Saturday, the man behind #PlayingforPalsy (@Sllay3tr) will be sweltering behind a hot PC in his 24 hour gaming marathon in aid of SpecialEffect (

Peter, whose son has cerebral palsy, knows first-hand how important games are to people with disabilities. That's why he'll be ploughing through Black Ops, Minecraft and a host of other games on the hottest weekend of the year to raise money for us.

His blog at contains a couple of stories from other gamers with disabilities, and is well worth a look.

It's looking to be a marathon with a difference, too. There's a whole host of gaming goodies available for grabs in a prize draw, with tickets priced at £2 and £5.

The action kicks off at 7pm on Saturday 20 July, so spare a thought for an exhausted and hot gamer, especially on the Sunday afternoon when he's going to be struggling. Better still, spare a donation at

Good luck Pete, and many, many thanks. We owe you a long, cool beer!
