SEGA and Creative conquer Isle of Wight

No stroll in the park this one. Peter Lamoureux, Kevin Botorek and Julie Metior of SEGA have just completed the Isle of Wight 106k Challenge to help raise awareness and funds for SpecialEffect.

And they're not the only ones. An intrepid team from Creative Assembly also took up the challenge.

Between them the teams raised over £1300!

That’s some trek. It’s the equivalent of walking up and down a football pitch over 1000 times. With hills, rocks, water and fences. It's a tough ask - it took the SEGA trio 32 hours - so reaching the end is some feat.

Here’s Peter's top ten tips if you’re planning a similar walking challenge:

  • Have a second pair of trainers available, even if you reckon the condition of the course isn’t going to change.
  • Do at least a 50% distance walk several weeks before the main event to test yourself/your equipment.
  • Try not to do too much during the last week leading up to the event.
  • Don’t underestimate the effects of sleep deprivation! Have some form of pick me up for the second part of the course.
  • Keep communicating with friends and family.
  • Fuel, Fuel, FUEL! Don’t wait to feel hungry or thirsty before you eat/drink.
  • Take advantage of massages if you are feeling sore.
  • Take advantage of baggage services. It's easy to underestimate how much a little extra weight can affect you on such a long walk.
  • Ration your rest time.
  • Always remember that you're doing this for an amazing cause!

Thanks to Peter, Kevin and Julie, plus all the amazing Creative Assembly team, from everyone here - that’s an incredible challenge you’ve smashed!
