One special smile from Khaleel

If you’re wondering about the amazing difference that your One Special Day support will make this coming Friday, meet Khaleel, whose Glutaric Aciduria was causing pain and frustration with his gaming. His involuntary movements meant he kept injuring his hands trying to use the hard plastic buttons on his arcade fight stick.

Our therapists Cam and Joe visited him recently to see if we could help. They noticed his wheelchair joystick was on his right, whereas most arcade sticks have the stick on the left. So to make things easier, Khaleel tried an Optima joystick by his right hand - and was soon moving really well in his PS3 games.

That left the problem of the injuries, so the team swapped in some special soft-topped buttons that are so much less risky, and he soon got up to speed with his new setup – beating both Cam and Joe at Mortal Kombat in the process!

There’s going to be loads of ways you can support One Special Day day this week, so keep an eye on https://twitter.com/SpecialEffect for details.
