London Welsh pack SpecialEffect punch

London Welsh Rugby Club were the muscle behind a £1k fundraising push this weekend when they hosted SpecialEffect as the match charity against capital rivals London Irish.

London Welsh players Martin Purdy and Dan George (below) visited SpecialEffect a few days ago to see first-hand the astonishing work being done by the charity, which uses digital technology to help people with disabilities enjoy a better quality of life.

"“The technology they’ve got now is just unbelievable. For someone who is unable to move through whatever reason, to be able to lead a full life and be productive is tremendous,” said Dan. "“It just shows the strides they’ve made in technology and SpecialEffect are right at the forefront, making people happy and giving them a better life."

SpecialEffect are indebted to the tremendous support of the volunteers who braved the freezing temperatures to run a collection at the match. And a big thank you to the supporters of both teams, who together raised over £1000.

Congratulations to London Welsh, who won the match 15-9.
