John, the Burton Albion Fan (as he's known here)
Sorry if you’re not into football, but we had a rare type of visitor on Friday to our games room. It was John - great bloke, great gamer - and a Burton Albion fan! Credit to therapist Joe for not letting that fact slip to Tom and Mark in the next room who support Burton’s rival teams and would have had NO hesitation in disrupting the assessment.
John had got in touch as he was hoping to get back into gaming. His cerebral palsy was making gaming on his PS4 difficult, although he’s got good control of his left hand index finger, and with the controller positioned correctly he could move the left analogue stick. He tried FIFA19’s two button mode, and could move the player around really well. He finds bringing his right hand down to access the buttons on the controller difficult, and so we positioned two button switches where he could press with his arm in its natural resting position.
“He got on brilliantly with one button and two sticks for FIFA,” said Joe. “We’re hoping to help him again with accessing some more complex games like Assassins Creed.”
Tom and Mark will be waiting.
