Jason smashes Scottish cycling challenge

Witney cyclist Jason Jones was at the headquarters of Oxfordshire disability charity SpecialEffect last week to present the organisation with a cheque for a whopping £2000.

Jason, 45, completed the gruelling Etape Loch Ness challenge at the end of April and smashed his £1500 fundraising target.

“It was a great day,” he said Jason, who had trained for a year for the event. “The hardest part was toiling up the long Glendo climb on the side of the Great Glen.”

“But the thought of all the fantastic pledges and donations that I’d received kept me going.”

Jason finished the Etape in a time of just under five hours.

Alison Hilborne, Supporter Care at the charity said, “We’re all so proud of Jason. He’s been a powerhouse of enthusiasm and determination throughout his epic challenge and it’s been a feat of organisation and commitment. He’s done the most incredible job. It’s been an absolute pleasure to get to know him and see him succeed so gallantly.”

“All the money he’s raised will go straight towards our work in helping disabled people of all ages experience fun and independence through technology.”
