It's official! Dr Mick's a TalkTalk Digital Hero

A huge thank you to everyone who voted online for SpecialEffect's very own Mick Donegan, who's been named the winner of the TalkTalk Digital Heroes Award for the South East for his role using digital technology to help others.

Voters including Homeland star Rupert Friend encouraged voters to back Dr Donegan who has joined eleven other regional winners at a celebratory event at the House of Commons in London.

David Cameron, MP for Witney, said “I have seen at first hand the amazing, specialised work which Dr Mick Donegan does to enhance access to games and creative self-expression for people with a wide range of disabilities. It is the steadfast and enthusiastic work of people like Mick Donegan that contribute so much to restore some quality of life of those in our communities who have such extreme disabilities. I am therefore delighted that Dr Mick Donegan has been crowned regional winner of ‘TalkTalk’s Digital Heroes Awards 2012’.”

The TalkTalk Digital Heroes Awards, with Citizens Online, is the only awards of its kind to celebrate people who use digital technology to help their communities. Now in its fifth year, it has helped dozens of projects across the country.

The award comes with a technology grant of £5,000 for SpecialEffect.
