Abbott Diabetes Care climb for SpecialEffect!

The Three Peaks is widely recognised as one of the toughest endurance events out there. Participants must climb the three highest mountains in the UK back-to-back in just 24hrs. Combine this with some of the hottest temperatures of the year and you’ve a recipe for a challenge of EPIC proportions, which is exactly what 12 staff from Abbott Diabetes Care experienced a few weekends ago!

Setting out at 5am, the team first took on the might of Ben Nevis, travelling on to the Lake District to scale Scarfell Pike, before finishing up with a night climb of Mount Snowdon.

Chloe Brooke who organized colleagues from ADC’s Maidenhead and Witney offices to take part in the event, said: “The outcome of the challenge was extremely successful – it was a physically and mentally demanding challenge but everyone was extremely proud of themselves on finishing!”

Between them the Three Peaks team raised over £5.5k, which will go directly towards supporting SpecialEffect’s work supporting severely disabled people with their technology needs.

This is the second year of ADC’s partnership with the charity, which has so far seen staff raise over £30k towards their work through a wide variety events, including raffles, quizzes, gigs, bake sales, motor-bike rides and parachute jumps.

Thanks Abbott - and we can’t wait to see what you have in store for the rest of the year!
