SpecialEffect win Oxfordshire charity award

Genuinely stunned and honoured to win the 2017 Charity and Community Award at the prestigious Oxfordshire Business Awards last Friday.

We were in the company of the great and the good alongside fellow finalists Blue Skye Thinking and Sobell House Hospice, so it was a surprise to win. The award, sponsored by The Oxford Times, recognises community involvement, commitment of staff, and impact on local disadvantaged groups.

Our fundraiser Nick Streeter said: "This is a huge boost - we did not expect to win and I think in this section each charity is a winner. I think this award gives staff and volunteers confidence and shows them what a difference we can make."

"Thank you to everyone who's supported us over the last ten years - we wouldn't be here without you!"

We're also absolutely delighted for Brendon Cross and his company STL Communications, who’ve scooped the prestigious Hidden Heroes Comms Business Award for 2017.

The award recognises people and companies in the communications industry who give their time raising money for or helping good causes.

Brendon is the MD of STL and a VP of SpecialEffect. His inspirational Twin Town Challenge event, which took place in 2014 and again in 2016, raised £450,000 for us. It will happen again in 2018.
