November Update!

4 November 2009

Stargaze Project

Dr Michael Donegan has been working with some new Stargaze eye control users (Stargazers) in England and Ireland. One of our current Stargazers (a 17 year old girl who was injured in a car accident) has just finished a successful three month loan period of a StarGaze system and is now looking to buy one for herself. Her care team commented “An invaluable service, which has changed children’s lives in ways that were not easily possible before. The SpecialEffect team are outstanding in their knowledge and manner with the children”.

Funding

We have been funded £12,000 towards a new Tobii machine to add to our Stargaze collection which will loaned out to new Stargazers. We have also been funded £11,000 for our Roadshow Project which will be reborn in 2010 as ‘GameOn4Everyone’, with sixteen Roadshows taking part in the Thames Valley throughout the year. Dublin

Marathon

The Dublin Marathon took place last week and runners Anna and Penelope successfully took part in it raising money for SpecialEffect and The Matt Hampson Trust. If anyone would like to run a Marathon for SpecialEffect we are able to get places in the London and Dublin Marathons and through EventAid places in the Rome and Amsterdam Marathons too.

Walk4Matt

SpecialEffect is excited and extremely grateful to once again be involved in Walk4Matt 2010 which will be taking part from the 22nd – 29th May. Walkers will take on 110 miles in 7 days along the Grand Union Canal tow path finishing up at the Guinness premiership final at Twickenham raising money for The Matt Hampson Trust, SpecialEffect and The Rugby Players Association. For more information on joining the fundraising walk for a day or the week go to www.walk4matt.org
